Home Assistant on MacOS

Running Home Assistant on a Mac is a bit of a pain. It doesn’t run natively and you have 2 options – a VM or Docker. I wanted to do Docker so it would be more portable in case I wanted to move back to Linux. I also wanted to use the HomeKit Bridge and that is where things went off the rails. Docker does not have good support for Host Mode on MacOS, so I had to use Bridge mode instead. However, with Bridge mode I couldn’t get Bonjour to work… and without that I wasn’t able to add Entities from Home Assistant into HomeKit.

I ended up setting up a Pi instead…
